I will always love writing this post at the beginning of the year as it’s nice to look back on this time last year and see how well you’ve stuck to your 2016 goals & resolutions. I would say I have done very well at all the things I’ve said which you can read here. I feel like I’ve changed so much in myself since the beginning of 2016.
Just to recap from last year I do have a house fund, in fact I’m hoping to move out this year which is all very exciting as we’ve been to view houses and meeting with the bank to discuss mortgages, it’s all very grown up but I’m at the stage where I’m just dying to leave my family home. I cut some people out my life in 2016 and I feel this was a very good move as it’s made me a lot happier as I’ve even made some new friends.
Another goal was to work on improving my blog and yes I worked on that by upgrading my theme, improved my photography and became more active on social media as I even hosted my first giveaway. I wanted to focus on my skincare routine so instead of just a moisturiser I’m now using eye creams, toners, serums, facial oils and my skin has never been better, I’m so obsessed with skincare now though as I love trying new products.
2017 Goals & Resolutions
From September 2016 me and Sam decided we are so ready to move out, since then we’ve been viewing houses and been meeting with the bank. After saving up for nearly 3 years we finally have enough for a deposit. I’m so excited to start this new chapter in our lives and for us to finally start living instead of being cooped up in my bedroom all the time, it’s just suffocating.
Improve my blog/photography
This is just something I am always working on, I’ve decided that this year I’m going to move my blogspot blog over to WordPress and go self hosted. I will have my own domain name and a fresh new look so look out for that in the next few weeks. As for my photography I am really going to up my game this year, once I’ve moved out I’ll be able to be more creative/experimental and invest in some light boxes for the darker nights. Pinterest & Instagram are my best friend when it comes to inspiration.
Get back into being creative
During my days at Uni studying my course, I used to have so much free time and more motivated to pick up a pencil and draw, since then I now work as a Graphic Designer for a print & design business, all the work I do is all digital so there is no drawing involved which isn’t a problem but I do miss the days when I used to doodle away in my notebook. This year, once I’ve moved out i’m going to work on having a creative space and get back into creating hand lettered posters again and maybe open up a little shop.
Take more social media breaks
I’m one of these people who hardly post on Facebook and the odd tweet on Twitter now and then but I spend a whole lot of time scrolling through feeds and then after a while sometimes it makes my mood feel low, I don’t know if it’s cause I get sucked in and sit on my phone for about an hour and then snap out of it like ‘what a waste of time that was’. I want to take more social media breaks and instead of scrolling on my phone, do something else with my time such as reading a book, catch up on a tv series, clear out my wardrobe or even travel somewhere.
I love to read books, I love getting lost in a story and not being able to put a book down but for some reason the only time I do read is either on holiday or in the garden when we actually get a summer. I got a few books for Christmas and I have a kindle so I’ve changed up my nighttime routine and I try and read a bit before bed if it’s not too late, this cuts out time I used to spend on my phone which isn’t great for me before bed time anyway, I’m hoping by this I will sleep better and feel more relaxed.
Get a new job
This is not so much a goal I need to complete but depending on how things are once I’ve moved out, money will become a whole lot more important to me then. It will be my 3 year anniversary at work in March which is officially the longest employment I’ve had at one workplace and I feel like I’ve gain enough experience as I can. I once got told some career advice was to never stay in a job too long and I do believe this as I haven’t quite got my dream job but I’m at a stepping stone. During the year we will see how things/feelings go before I decide to get on with the dreaded job hunting.
Social Media End Of Year Targets
I really want to work on gaining new followers this year so I thought if I set myself some realistic goals for my most used platforms then this will help see some improvement by the end of the year.
